This is a summary of information about three of the City of Carbondale’s Housing-Related Grant Programs.
Our mission: To provide affordable housing and supportive services to the homeless and the near homeless, and to work with other groups and individuals to eliminate the causes of homelessness in the southern twenty-four counties of Illinois.
Located in the historic Stotlar house at 705 W. Main Street in Carbondale. Our goal is to get used books back into the hands of interested readers. Keep Carbondale Beautiful initiates, plans, and directs cooperative efforts in litter control, recycling, community beautification, and environmental education. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been serving the Southern Illinois community since 1987 (initially as “Carbondale Clean & Green”) and we are an affiliate of Keep Illinois Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful.
Our monthly dance is “Blue Zone” living in a war zone world. Each month we connect with neighbors, move our bodies, share a community meal and promote health and well being. Hi I’m Gayla Groom. I run Gems Press, a small publisher offering book writing and editing, manuscript layout, and Kindle book creation. I’m a Carbondale resident. I’m good at producing Kindle books that look great even when they contain difficult formatting. I’m also what they call a “book doctor.” I can take a manuscript that has value but is in terrible shape and make it something to be proud of. Public and Private Art Parties. “Project Human X is a community art center and gallery. We are uniting human beings through collaborative art and helping them tap into their unique creative potential. We have plenty of events ready to uplift the community. From yoga to paint classes to our kids camp, we do everything in our power to give each individual that walks through our doors a great time.
“WDBX 91.1 FM Community Radio provides a public forum for artistic and cultural expression and for the exchange of ideas among individuals and the community. Over 70 unique weekly programs produced by our volunteer DJs spanning a broad range of musical genres, news, and talk.”
